Robb Residence

Prescott, Arizona

With a love of European architecture, Art in Design set out to create a beautiful home which both  satisfied the Client’s programmatic requirements yet still complemented the various architectural styles found in the neighborhood.  Ms. Robb purchased a unique lot surrounded by various granite boulder outcroppings.  Due to the many granite boulders covering the site, it was very challenging to put an adequately sized home on  it.  In an effort to minimize earthwork on the sloping site, the first floor of the residence is located on two levels separated by a columned stairway.

Maza Residence

Tempe, Arizona

The Maza family has lived in the Tempe area for many years close to family, work, and church friends.  With an increasing family, the small 1300+ square-foot house became cramped for the family of seven.  In an effort to remain in the neighborhood, they chose to remodel their existing house to accommodate their large family.  The site did not allow for a large addition, so the only option was to “go up”.  The existing roof was raised and an entire second floor was added atop the existing masonry walls.  The Owners wished to complement the other Ranch style homes in the neighborhood.  Although the scale of the home is larger than many in the neighborhood, great care was taken to make it blend.

Apache Wells Community

Overbeck Homes

A 55+ golf course community with magnificent views of the superstition mountains to the East, Art in Design Inc. created new home designs that both maximized the lot coverage while focusing on the views of the golf course and surrounding mountains.  Low-maintenance landscaping design served the part-time Owners as well.

Sutton Residence

Scottsdale, Arizona

Mr. and Mrs. Neil Sutton had a small dining room off the entryway which did not accommodate their furniture very well.  With grandchildren visiting quite frequently, they had provided a bedroom for their visits, but need an additional play area for them.  Their desire was to enclose the existing patio to create a new dining room and to convert the existing dining room into a study/den which could also be used as a guestroom.  The downstairs powder room was also enlarged to include a new shower enclosure.  To add interest to the rear elevation, a shallow rough sawn wood pergola was constructed to frame the large sliding glass door relocated to the new rear wall.
